Some kind soul in dse offered me the PCIP-AWFG, an Arbitrary Waveform Generator, for free. The device, which is manufactured by Keithley, is built on an IBM PC/XT/AT plug-in board. My objective is to develop a Linux driver for this device and make it available. Depending on my time frame I will fill this page with technical information, photos and the software, of course.

State of affairs

  • 6. Sep 2008 The AWFG is fun to play with. But after nearly two years without any real progress (You may know this. Too many interesting things out there, but too little spare time to look at them all.) I decided to give the AWFG to some friendly people doing research in astronomy. They have burned down their own AWFG and have the urgent need for a replacement part now.
  • 14. Mar 2006 A rudimentary kernel module is up and running. All two channels with their analog output and their four digital outputs each seem to work.

Feedback

Feel free to contact me (mwe012008@gmx.net) if you have any question about the device or if you want to make a suggestion. Even contact me if you want to speed up the development of this driver ;).
